Honeywell Science Kits program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Honeywell announced today that it is helping more than 1,200 local students learn about science and technology through a partnership with local schools in Batam and Bintan in Riau Islands province.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Director Honeywell Indonesia, Alex Pollack, handed over Science Kits to school representatives.<\/p><\/div>\n

Under the Honeywell Science Kits program, four schools will receive science kits supporting the national curriculum. These comprehensive tools will allow students to experience science and technology concepts in an innovative way. As part of the program, 12 teachers from these four schools will be trained with hands-on teaching techniques, enabling them to better engage their students in the classroom. In addition to that, 12 engineers from local Honeywell facility are volunteering to promote technology careers at these local schools.<\/p>\n

The program is part of Honeywell\u2019s ongoing commitment to promote science and technology education inIndonesia which includes sponsoring middle school math and science teachers to attend its international programs such as Honeywell Educators at Space Academy<\/strong> (www.educators.honeywell.com)<\/a> and Green Boot Camp<\/strong> (www.honeywellinteract.com\/greenbootcamp)<\/a> to learn advanced teaching techniques. This new science kits program is sponsored by Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company\u2019s global citizenship initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoneywell provides students and teachers opportunities in science and technology education in Indonesia, through a series of unique programs designed to inspire the next generation of innovators,\u201d said Alex Pollack, President of Honeywell Indonesia. \u201cThis exciting program affords students an opportunity to learn concepts in a more engaging manner and gain valuable access to information about potential careers in science and engineering from Honeywell\u2019s top engineers.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to National Science Foundation, 80 percent of the jobs in the next 10 years will require Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills and capabilities. \u201cWe aim to provide the best education to our students and these advanced teaching techniques will be highly beneficial both for our students as well as our teachers. We welcome such initiatives and are delighted to have Honeywell engineers volunteer to encourage our students,\u201d said Zurnalis, Principal of SMPN 9, Batam.<\/p>\n

Honeywell Science Kits program is being run in partnership with SMP II Lukman Hakim and SMP Negeri 9 in Batam as well as in SMP Negeri 11 and SMPN 13 in Bintan.<\/p>\n

Honeywell Indonesia Luncurkan Program Science Kits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PT Honeywell Bintan melaksanakan program CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) sebagai bentuk kepedulian akan pendidikan. Peluncuran program bernama Science Kits untuk empat sekolah di Bintan dan Batam berlangsung di wisma Bintan Inti Industrial Estate (BIIE) Lobam Kecamatan Seri Kuala Lobam pada Rabu (20\/8).<\/span>
\nEmpat sekolah itu adalah SMP II Lukman Hakim Batam, SMP negeri 9 Batam serta SMP 11 dan 13 Bintan. Dalam kesempatan itu PT Honeywell berkomitmen akan meningkatkan minat belajar dengan mengkombinasikan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi serta memberikan pelatihan ilmu matematika dan teknologi terbaru kepada guru. Di kesempatan itu, PT Honeywell juga menyatakan sudah membantu sekitar 1.200 siswa dalam pengetahuan teknologi melalui berbagai kerja sama di sekolah yang ada di Batam dan Bintan.<\/p>\n

Presiden Direktur PT Honeywell Indonesia Alex Pollack mengungkapkan Honeywell akan terus memberikan kesempatan dengan berbagai kerja sama kepada siswa dan guru untuk meningkatkan minat belajar dalam pengetahuan teknologi. Dengan demikian diharapkan mampu menginsipirasi bahkan lahir para inovator bidang teknologi di masa mendatang.<\/p>\n

Kerja sama tersebut lanjut Alex dalam bentuk memberikan informasi karir bidang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi untuk para insinyur terbaik yang siap bekerja di perusahaan produksi komponen pesawat terbang.<\/p>\n

Di lain hal berdasarkan penelitian National Science Foundation sepuluh tahun ke depan ia menyebutkan 80 persen lowongan pekerjaan justru dibutuhkan keahlian di bidang teknologi permesinan dan matematika. Karena itu ia mengatakan pihaknya siap melatih sekitar 12 guru dengan pengetahuan teknologi terbaru dan teknik pengajaran yang dinilai mampu meningkatkan minat siswa untuk belajar pengetahuan dan teknologi.<\/p>\n

\u201cKebutuhan teknologi sudah sangat mendesak. Termasuk di Bintan dan Batam. Siswa ke depan juga diharapkan mampu menopang dunia industri sehingga tenaga ahli terpenuhi dan membuat nilai jual investasi di Kepri semakin meningkat,\u201d harapannya.<\/p>\n

Pada kesempatan itu M Hendri Asisten I Pemkab Bintan mengapresiasi PT Honeywell yang sudah meluncurkan program pendidikan dan siap memberikan pelatihan teknologi kepada guru. \u201cPemerintah sangat mendukung selain siap menjembatani pihak sekolah dan perusahaan,\u201d katanya.<\/p>\n

Terakhir ia berharap guru bisa memanfaatkan momen ini dengan menyerap ilum yang didapat untuk dikembangkan lagi ke siswanya sehingga Bintan memiliki SDM yang handal dan terampil. Dalam kesempatan itu Alex Pollack menyerahkan secara simbolis program CRS kepada perwakilan sekolah.<\/p>\n
