Singapore, Indonesia exploring collaboration on urban development.
A trade mission led by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck met with top Indonesian officials, and discussed potential areas of partnership such as water, waste management and urban development.
A business mission led by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck involving 25 Singapore companies wrapped up a visit to Jakarta and Semarang, having explored areas for collaboration.
According to a joint press release by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and Singapore Business Federation (SBF) on Friday (Nov 28), the delegation saw fruitful discussions with top Indonesian officials, including newly appointed Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel and Chairman for Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Suryo Bambang Sulisto.
The Indonesia officials welcomed Singapore investments and partnership, and highlighted potential for Singapore’s expertise to contribute to Indonesia’s development in areas such as water, waste management, power, transport and urban development, it added.
Mr Teo said: “The Indonesia Ministry of Trade, Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board and KADIN responded positively to the proposal for such a private sector-led platform and for the government to play a facilitative role.
“This will make business-to-business collaboration more systematic, provide businesses with more detailed insights on key projects of interest to Indonesia, facilitate identifying potential partners, and help resolve any difficulties faced by companies.”
The Singapore delegation also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday between local company Cyclect Energy and PT Berkat Manunggal Jaya, one of Indonesia’s top power equipment manufacturing companies.
