New Indonesian Passport
Indonesian New Passport Design.
The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry for Law and Human Rights has released a new passport design for Indonesian citizens (27 Nov 2014). The new passport is reported to have been distributed to all immigration offices in Jakarta.
One of them is the Class I Immigration office in West Jakarta, where these new passport books are referred as the ‘series B’ passport. The office has received enough quantity of the new passport books and can directly use them to serve those who are applying for passports on Thursday (27/11).
“The series B passport that goes into us [West Jakarta immigration office] is 3,000 in numbers,” said one of the West Jakarta immigration office staff as quoted by Kompas.com.
The new passport cover comes in a bright blue color, which is different to its dark green-colored predecessor. Moreover, the Garuda state symbol is positioned in the center of the new passport cover.
The wordings positioning of the new passport also appeared to be simpler. ‘Republik Indonesia’ is written above the Garuda symbol, with ‘Paspor’ and ‘Passport’ underneath. In the old passport cover, these were collated on one point and extended vertically.
More differences can be found inside the passport.
The new passport, which comes with 48 blank pages, has a variation of background images. These images are sampled from the Indonesian flora, fauna, scenery and other natural resources. Among the background images are those of a turtle, cendrawasih (bird-of-paradise), tropical forest, Samosir Island, and raflesia flower.
These background images are significantly more enriched as compared to the old passport, which only contained one kind of background image in all its pages, a flower. However, the paper quality of the new passport is the same as the old passport type.
There will be no change in the passport application procedure despite the release of the new passport.

Paspor RI Punya Tampilan Baru?
Pada laman tersebut terlihat sebuah foto paspor berwarna biru. Jika diperhatikan dengan seksama, difoto tersebut pada sampul depan, bagian atasnya bertuliskan Republik Indonesia. Tepat di bawah tulisan, terdapat lambang negara Indonesia, burung garuda dan pada paling bawah terdapat tulisan paspor yang kesemuanya ditulis menggunakan huruf kapital.
Foto yang diunggah juga memperlihatkan tampilan dalam (isi) dari paspor tersebut. Halaman demi halamannya memperlihatnya ikon Indonesia dan kaya warna, seperti yang terlihat di halaman delapan yaitu gambar bunga Rafflesia Arnoldi. Sedangkan pada halaman 10 terlihat gambar sepasang ondel-ondel.
Lebih lanjut, pada kolom komentar di laman Facebook grup Backpacker Dunia, salah satu anggotanya menerangkan bahwa foto tersebut merupakan foto dari paspor terbaru Republik Indonesia.
‘Tapi pada dasarnya itu belom di launching, baru akan launching akhir tahun ini karena mau di cetak oleh peruri. Paspor yg di attach itu namanya polycarbonate passport. Paspor tersebut untuk pertama kalinya pernah ditampilkan pada acara Legal Expo tanggal 30-31 Oktober 2014 di Kemenkumham,” tulis salah seorang anggota Backpacker Dunia.
